Training
Kaleo’s discipleship training is the foundational element of our mission to make disciples. Our training consists of Bible-based courses that we teach in a dialogical format known as ‘midrash.’ This style of teaching is the primary type of teaching employed by Jesus and the Apostles and the best way to follow Jesus’ instructions: “teach them to obey.” During our teaching times we expect that people will focus on a passage of Scripture, discuss its meaning and define its application under the authority of Scripture, the guidance of the Holy Spirit and gifted teachers/trainers.
After the general teaching, we break down into smaller training groups in order to flesh out the implication and application of the truths discussed, rather than be satisfied with the mere accumulation of knowledge. These groups will often develop into mentoring relationships where we can continue to deepen our beliefs in practice.
The starting course for all discipleship training is The Story Formed Life and more courses will be added and repeated as we develop and grow. You do not have to be a part of our missional communities in order to participate and benefit from the discipleship training. Whether you’re just exploring the Christian faith or looking to deepen your commitment as a disciple, you’re welcome to join us.

Gathering
Kaleo’s missional communities gather together regularly for a planned body gathering each week and also at various other times and places in order to be involved in one another’s daily lives. Many of these gatherings are great opportunities for you to get to know us and for us to get to know you. Since the church is a people, and not a place or time, it is highly relational. There really is no one “service” that defines us just as no one family meal can define a family. Each time we gather, we hope that it reflects what we really value and believe and demonstrates a balance in the rhythm of our common life together.
The weekly gathering for each community, something we call the body gathering, is a time where we come together to participate in a common meal known as the Lord’s supper, to recognize and respond to Christ as the head of the Body, to exercise spiritual gifts and where every member of the body may participate fully so that we’re encouraged and equipped for the work and mission we’re called to.
Though it’s not common for such a gathering to be the first environment you’d spent time with us, you’re welcome to come. We do ask that you would read the following before attending… (need this here)
Kaleo Communities
Our community list will develop after the launching of our Story Formed Life course. Sign up for our weekly update to be informed when this happens.
Serving
Members of the Kaleo communities are encouraged to serve others that they are in relationship with by actively blessing them in word and deed and by also welcoming others into our homes and lives as a demonstration of the gospel. In other words, serving begins with those we already know and those we already live by. As our network of relationships expand so will the opportunities to share the gospel by serving.
Collectively, we are able to accomplish more through larger serving projects in our neighborhoods and cities because of our shared resources, talents, leadership and sheer numbers. Once our communities have established a firm foundation through discipleship training and begin to gather regularly, we will also see the opening up of serving projects that we’ll be able to partner with others in accomplishing.
