Mission
Mission
Disciples of Jesus are to go into all the world, proclaiming the gospel in order to make (reproduce) baptized, obedient disciples of Jesus. To “go and make disciples” is the substantive, distinct, central commission of Jesus to his followers. Any training, gathering of believers or service to others that distracts us from this central call puts us at odds with it. As theologian Karl Barth states it, “Christianity without discipleship is Christianity without Christ.”
Kaleo sees this mission being accomplished in these foundational ways:
Discipleship Training
Since our main mission as Christians is to make disciples, our highest commitment as part of Kaleo is to discipleship training (the process that produces fully devoted disciples of Christ). Each week, the members of our community participates in discipleship training through our courses and also in relationship through training groups and mentor-ship.
Consider participating in one of our upcoming training courses.
Missional Communities
Disciples of Jesus cannot live on mission alone. They are meant to do life with God together in the places where they live, work, and recreate. Our missional communities are intended to be groups of people who can love one another the way Christ commands us, because this is how the world will know we’re his disciples. This means that our identity in Christ is what brings us together and not just our affinities. These communities provide the opportunity to live and gather as the church, welcome others into discipleship training and serve in particular ways in the places we inhabit and the people we encounter. Being part of a missional community isn’t just about a weekly gathering, but a way of life.
As our missional communities develop they will fulfill the New Testament vision of the church as an interconnected and interdependent family of disciples, living as the Body of Christ in a city or region as they deepen their commitment to the training and sending of more disciples.

Service
Jesus teaches that we are sent as he was sent. He makes it clear throughout his life, that he came to serve and not to be served. This implies that we are to be for the people, culture and cities where God has placed us and wherever we go. To remain as servants we must not be of the culture so as to lose our distinctiveness, against the culture so as to diminish our relevance nor above the culture as ‘super spiritual’ and lose our effectiveness. It is by serving in this way we prove that we mean it when we pray: “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

Missions teams
While remaining committed to local practice, we must also support other like-minded movements/organizations and help others to initiate training centers in places we’ve yet to go, through apostolic expansion. This paradigm for the expansion of the church involves a leadership that equips and empowers and not controls. Following the strategy of Jesus and the Apostles, we will raise up, recognize and commission teams to help start new works or support and transform existing ones. More information on our developing network will be provided soon.
