Life
Identity
The most common and perhaps most vivid metaphor the New Testament Scriptures uses to describe the church is the ‘body of Christ.’ We are connected to him as our head - he is our head pastor and leader. As his Body, we are to be the physical expression of what God is like so that the fullness of Jesus Christ can be seen and heard through us in every place and in every way.
The normal practice of the Christian Church today looks very different from what is described in the pages of the New Testament scriptures. While many associate church with merely a place or some type of weekly event, Jesus and the Apostles define the church as a people. As a people called to live a common life together we are committed to sharing our resources and leadership together as part of the redeemed people of God.
One of the great myths of modern culture is that we can find satisfaction through isolated and individualistic lives. We must aggressively combat this tendency through a common body life where we practice life together through such things as common living spaces, businesses, life plans, meals, recreation, etc.
Rhythm
How we live in any moment is a reflection of who we really are. When we embrace our identity in Christ both as individuals and in community, the result is a life lived in rhythm, not chaos. Living in rhythm is about striking a balance between rest and work; between creating beauty and taking it in. Kaleo is building our rhythms to reflect who we are in how we live each day, week, month and year through our discipleship training, body life and service.
