Faith
Story Formed
The story of God has been unfolding since the beginning of time. We seek to understand this story and how our lives intersect with it. Namely, how we are: created by God, fallen into darkness, rescued by Jesus, confessor’s of his Lordship, indwelled by his Spirit, member’s of Christ’s body (the church), citizens of an emerging kingdom and participants in the restoration of all things.
Because we are all story formed, we resolve to deepen our belief and place in the Story of God through regular intense interaction with the the Scriptures and genuinely listening to others, helping them to connect with him.
Gospel Centered
The gospel (good news) is the defining message of Jesus. It is a message that motivates out of grace and not guilt; that seeks transformation and not just behavioral modification and so calls us to be a new people and not just a nicer people. It is a message that stands as a clear alternative to both religion and liberalism, knowing that the gospel can change anyone. The gospel is the answer to all problems (personal, social, etc.) since all problems are a result of something other than Christ standing as our savior. Put simply: the gospel changes everything.
Because the gospel is what transforms us, we resolve to proclaim the gospel at all times to ourselves and others.
Orthodox
The grounding for all growth and development of a disciple comes from the one faith that has been delivered to us.
Agreement here can bring tremendous unity and clarity as a community. We embrace a historic, orthodox and reformed faith as taught in the scriptures. When we speak of faith, we always want to be thinking of practice. We want to ask “What if we really lived by what we say we believe?” because faith is not just a personal matter, it’s a framework for our lives. Because truth is revealed by God and not determined by us, we resolve to proclaim and demonstrate truth in humility.
